About Me Matthew
*NOW TAKING NEW CLIENT BOOKINGS FOR EARLY 2025*

I am an experienced registered Clinical Psychologist and board-approved supervisor, who is located in Paddington, Brisbane. I have completed 6 years of university training, including a Master of Clinical Psychology. I have experience in working across the lifespan with various psychological issues including anxiety and depression, trauma, post-traumatic stress, borderline personality, grief and loss, emotion dysregulation, behaviour management, and health behaviour change. I also have experience working with both individuals and groups.
I have particular interest in working with adults who are experiencing psychological issues related to anxiety and depression, trauma, post-traumatic stress, and co-morbid chronic health issues and their management. I have a special interest in working with people who have inflammatory bowel disease (IBD - Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
My approach to therapy is to explore and bring awareness to underlying causes of current symptoms/issues, understand their influence on the present, and provide evidence-based skills to cope and change. I practice primarily from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) principles. I also incorporate Somatic Experiencing techniques within my therapeutic practice.
Appointment times are on Mondays (9:00am-6:30pm), Tuesdays (9:00am-6:30pm), and Wednesdays (9:00am-6:30pm). Telehealth appointments are also available upon request and I also accept Workcover QLD referrals.

I am a board-approved supervisor for both provisional and registered Psychologists. I am STAP trained and qualified to supervise those undertaking the 5+1 pathway, registered Psychologists, and other professionals in the mental health field (e.g., counsellors and social workers, etc.). Supervision can be conducted onsite in Paddington or via telehealth. My fee for supervision is $170 (including GST) for 1 hour. Please feel free to contact me via email, text or a phone call for an initial conversation to see if we would be a good fit. Please review my website for areas of interest and therapeutic frameworks implemented.

What to Expect in Sessions

1. Once an appointment has been made, I will send you a copy of the consent form via email for your perusal. This form will also be reviewed and a copy signed in the initial session.

2. Initial session generally focuses on gathering information on the presenting problem/s (e.g., reasons for attendance, goals for therapy) and relevant background information (e.g., history). Occasionally, a portion of the second session may also be needed to gather further information. Matthew

3. Based on the above information, I form and provide a conceptualisation of your individual presentation and needs, to help you achieve your therapeutic goals. Sessions can then focus on helping you to address identified areas and move towards achieving your goals.
